By the time children reaches the adulthood they come across lot many things about life in this world and they imbibe those useful data through the process of cognitive development which involves a multitude of factors, both inherent and learned. As for children's overall development, fun and leisure activities in general are just as significant as education.

Most parents wish to encourage children to study than play games to make them valued but when a child is engaged in a game or leisure activity either a structured team sport or an unstructured free play in the backyard or park, the basic values they learn in the sandbox will help them to develop a sense of camaraderie, and teach positive values. These values are then carried with the child throughout their life.

Structured Play: Sports

Due to its physical and social benefits, sport is definitely one of the greatest things man has ever created. It’s also the powerful tool that makes everybody feel rejuvenated both physically and mentally by breaking down all the barriers. Sport is quite beneficial for children too: It’s the main leisure time activity for children. These team activities not only teach them a skill, it also teaches them how to work as a team towards a common goal.

Unstructured play also contributes well to the cognitive, physical, social and emotional development of children because parks are more than just fun places for children to spend leisure time. The informal learning, non-formal programs, and formal instruction associated with parks can reinforce each other, enhancing academic achievement. Children find parks as intrinsic attractions because it allows them to break away from the tight strictures of their studies.

Parks offer every single child fine physical and mental development as they actively use their bodies. Swings, climbing equipment’s, sliding, monkey bars etc. are such basic playground activities that can aid child’s development in many areas. Swing, climbing and sliding fitness will lift the spirit of the children, which in turn gives them an energy boost. These activities also conditions the joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments basically, most of the body and also blurs the line between workouts and recreation.

Playing on overhead equipment, like with a set of monkey bars are fantastic for working upper body muscles which helps the children with handwriting more over it enhance the hand and eye coordination when moving from one bar to another. Equipment like this is great for kids who have trouble with motor planning. Learning to move one hand at a time from bar to bar can help the children practice coordination and balance. They’ll also learn how to judge where the next bar is in relation to his body.

Leisure and playtime is not just fun and games rather it end or societal, academic, and oral skills by letting the child to interact with their peers and environment and there for a vital factor in the successful growth of the brain, body, and intellect. Active play time promotes physical success and allows the children to explore and expand their physical limits.

Parks by their very name are ground used for recreation. They are specifically designed safe environment to foster structured as well as unstructured play and leisure opportunities for all ages. Parks and play equipment’s can fulfill the children’s requirement by providing different opportunities to engage in appropriate developmental play. Leisure, playtime, parks, rides whatever it is, is important not to forget, fun for children and this fun will have lasting positive effects on their development.
